Guidelines in creating a website for beginners

This article defines some of the Elements of an Effective website.

Building a website is never an easy task but this guide should be able to help you consider a few things in building an effective one, but before we proceed you need to know the following:

  • What is your website about?
  • What is its purpose?
  • How committed are you?

Once you know the answers to these questions, then it’s time to get to work.

Design  First off, being visually appealing isn’t enough, especially when you are trying to deliver a message. An effective web design should provide the audience/web visitor an answer to “don’t make me think and don’t make me read” mindset. Using a theme that relates to the topic of your website can help you track and improve contents. Proper use of visual elements of your website such as theme, colors, logo, font(s), lay-out and white space should help convey your message to your audiences.

Content – One of the keys to a good aside from your design is your content. Your website should have substance and relevance to what your audience wants. Contents should showcase what’s in it for them to keep them interested and engaged.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)  when building a website, one of the key elements is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  SEO helps you/r website to be placed at the most critical points of search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo, with the right use of permalink structures that includes keywords and relevance to what the users are looking for thus, increasing website traffic and sales opportunities. Include words that reflect your website topic to your title images and description. SEO is not a one process deal, it is a continuous process simply because developing a good content is a continuous process.

Using keywords is not only important to implement on your website, but should also be considered to off-site platforms or social media and aim for multi-channel optimization.
